I would like to blacklist my previous tenant who vacated my unit today without paying the rental and electricity and water amount. Karen Sharp(tenant) has left the carpets dirty(not cleaned which is a requirement of the lease). It was also agreed when she moved in that the interior will be painted by themselves a light brown, however the main bedroom is a bright blue, certain walls are orange and others grey!!! She has successfully avoided returning e-mails and telephone messages from 26 November 2009, regarding the rent and electricity & water. She also left what appears to be her unwanted and broken possessions in the unit. I would really not want anyone to feel or experience the uncultured behaviour of someone who portrays a holier than thou attitude!. When someone lets out what used to be their home it is most upsetting and makes you really frustrated when tenants play the cat & mouse game. I really feel humiliated and basically taken for a ride and the reason for not taken any legal steps as I will not want to waste my hard-earned money after BAD RUBBISH. I am not a TPN member but will appreciate if you would please send me the forms to blacklist this woman, 'cos as I said I wouldn't want anyone to experience this and lose money and it will hopefully stop her from getting away with her roguish ways!!

Dear Frustrated,

This was one of the very reasons TPN was established!

In terms of the National Credit Act, you are required to send your tenant a letter of demand specifically stating your intention is to blacklist on the credit bureaux. TPN has a letter of demand on the website (R25.00) which you can use, or you can use your attorney. Ensure the intention to list was included in the attorney's letter. 20 business days after the date the letter goes out, you are entitled to blacklist.

Blacklisting is performed on the TPN website - there is no charge to blacklist, or remove a blacklist once paid up.

(I have emailed you the TPN application forms)
