2010/08/16 10:47:31 PM Shar Posts: 13	I have a landlord whose levies are going up more than 50% and there is a special levy for 6 months in the development and both total nearly R700 per month. The Landlord is insisting I increase the rent by that amount. I feel this is unreasonable on a property that is rented for approx R4000 per month. Can anybody advise?

2010/08/17 11:37:52 AM Guest	I'm assuming that the current tenant would not want to renew at R4700. I would advise him on the current rental value for his property and provide him with comparisons. If there is too large a gap between the market value and the proposed R4700, I would counsel him on the potential financial loss he will incur if he ends up with a void period.

Levies are normally owners responsibility and rent should be market related. The two have little to do with each other in my view.
