Hi

I am currently renting a property where the owner/s has two accounts which one is extremely high since we moved in. The account that is listed on the lease agreement seems to be a new account which I'm currently paying on. The owner mention to us that she suspects the neighbor is using the same meter and she is being charge on her account. Will i be responsible for this when moving out. There is also a constant noise of running water but she said its not affecting the usage which i disagree with her. I also had to log a call for a leaked pipe but this was charged on the high account. Can the owner hold me responsible for some of the cost on the high account?

Regards

Find the user. Simply switch all taps off. If you used hot water wait a 10 minute or so until geysers are refilled. Then check the meter. If the small little star is spinning water is used, leak or otherwise. Find out where the water goes. If there is no little star last person to leave in the morning takes reading. First person to come home does same. Has the water meter moved water is been used... If all fails get the leak detection people out, but they cost money. Discuss with owner before.
Speak to neighbour and ask where their meter is. If she doe snot have one it might be correct that all goes through yours. Unlikely though.
