On any given problem at the apartment I rent out, my tenant expects that I will attend to all aspects of whatever issue she is having. For instance, there was a problem with the internet connection to the apartment. On being told by the ISP and Telkom that the problem was with my router, my tenant asked me to replace the router. It didn't sound right to me since the router was less than 3 years old. I went to collect the router and checked its functionality at a different premises and it was fine (I just changed the adaptor which could have been the problem). Thereafter I delivered the router back to the apartment and she still had no connection. Am I obliged to negotiate on her behalf with the service provider and Telkom to get the connection working? It was clear that the problem was on Telkom's side and she was adament that I was not being co-operative in sorting the problem out. As far as I can ascertain, I took care of the router's functionality....the services to the apartment are for the tenant's management. Please advise me if I am off track? Regards Ana-Lisa

If tenant pays for Telkom I would say tenant needs to take Telkom to task. if Telkom claims to you that router is at fault you can still dismiss that by showing that it is working elsewhere. Then they have to start over again to find the fault...
From my experince Telkom rarely admits that they are not at fault, but they will have a hard time to explain why it works and one place and not the other.
Was it ever working on tenants machine or never? If never it maybe it a setting on your tenants machine.

Thank you for getting back to me...much appreciated. The router was working fine on the tenant's computer before. Also, the router was -and still is - in good working condition when she started renting. The ISP sorted or told Telkom to fix the problem etc, so it is sorted now.
