TPN's recommendation is:

ID Verification, TPN Individual Enquiry, TransUnion Individual Enquiry, Experian Individual Enquiry

The ID verification will indicate for you if the name and surname match the ID number before you even proceed with the rest of the enquiries. TPN members are alerted to the possibility of fraudulent or deceased ID documents. Also, the system will alert you to an input error – for example entering the name and surname back to front, mismatching a husband and wife’s details, entering the tenant’s ID number with the landlord’s details (ALL COMMON MISTAKTES).

Once the ID verification is performed, the TPN member requests additional enquiries. TPN, TransUnion and Experian are all registered credit bureaux however their data differs. This is because each credit bureau has its own set of clients and these clients record their default data with the credit bureau where they are registered. TPN has found that unless all three enquiries are performed, the TPN member runs the risk of not seeing defaults listed with the other credit bureau.
